This conference is a part of conference series, which was started by a group of faculty members working in different reputed institutes like IITs, NITs and Central Universities of India. It will act as a major forum for presentation of technological progress and research outcomes in the area of Industrial and Applied Mathematics serving as a platform for exchanges between academia and industry. The first conference of this series, FIAM-2018 was organized by Department of Mathematics, National Institute of Technology Hamirpur, HP, India in association with Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ISIAM) during April 26-27, 2018 at NIT Hamirpur. The Second International Conference of this series, FIAM-2019 was organized by Department of Mathematics, Galgotia College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida during December 21–22, 2019. The selected quality papers were published AIP conference proceedings and Journal- Advances and Applications in Mathematical Sciences.
To commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikh Religion, some visionary, philanthropic persons of the town realized that starting a higher education institute for girls would be a befitting tribute to the Guru as it would help in realizing His concept of egalitarian society by empowering the women folk of this remote and backward area. To fulfill this dire need of women education in the region of Malwa, Guru Nanak College for Girls was started under the patronage of S. Parkash Singh Badal, the then Chief Minister of Punjab, in 1970. In year 2000, it was taken over by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib. The college is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. It is situated in the southern most part of Sri Muktsar Sahib and in vicinity of historic gurudwaras, Sri Tibbi Sahib, Sri Rakabsar Sahib and Sri Datansar Sahib.
Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2003. The Post Graduate Department, affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh was introduced in the year 2010 with 60 seats. There are 4-regular and 8-adhoc based well-qualified faculty members working in the department. Besides teaching various courses to the undergraduate and post graduate students, a variety of workshops, seminars and expert lectures are regularly arranged for the preparation of various competitive exams and overall development of the students. As a result, a number of students are qualifying various scholarship tests, internship programs and CSIR-NET/JRF exams on regular basis. PG Department of Mathematics is leaving no stone unturned to promote this subject and providing every possible help to academically poor as well as talented students under the supervision of Head of Department, Mrs. Satinder Pal Kaur and the able guidance of worthy Principal, Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal.
